SDG ~ What's in a name?
SDG = Soli Deo Gloria = Latin for: "To God Only Be the Glory". I got this idea from a sermon preached by Pastor Ritch at our church in Peoria, IL. Pastor Ritch spoke about a famous composer (J.S. Bach) and how he used to sign each masterpiece "SDG" giving God all the glory for each piece when he was finished with it. J.S. Bach gave God all the glory and honor for His wonder and favor in giving him the talent and skill to create such wonders. Sitting there I realized that SDG would be a great name for a business if I ever had one some day. Not only would I strive to honor God in my daily life...but in my business as well. When the time came in 2005 to create a name for my photography business I could think of nothing else since my talent truly is a gift from the Lord. I tried other names (Photography By Rosalie etc. etc.) but nothing felt "right". Since there is nothing I know or can do that the Lord hasn't gifted me with, I decided that giving Him the glory first and foremost in the name of my business was highly appropriate! It was He who unlocked the passion that I have for this art in blessing my husband and I with our beautiful sons... Thank you Lord!!
Memories of a lifetime that last a lifetime...
Welcome to the world through the eyes of my heart as a mommy and photographer. I am truly thankful for this gift to capture life at it's sweetest. The Lord has been so good! Thank you Lord for this special gift! A picture is worth a thousand words...yes...and rich emotion and feeling too. When I look at photographs of my little ones and even my wedding day I am instantly transported back in time and I am able to relive the emotions of joy and wonder I experienced during those precious times - even down to the certain smells and sounds. As I rocked, kissed, and stared at my precious first born baby boy, I promised myself I would always remember those sweet, soft, and life changing moments...and I do with the help of the beautiful images I have of them! Photographs are such a powerful way to freeze those fleeting moments in time...giving us the ability to look back and peek at or even display them as a daily reminder of our blessings.
